Altdöbern Castle and Grounds
In the early 18th century, General Alexander Dietrich von Eickstedt from Saxony had a castle built to replace an older moated castle. About thirty years later, the three-winged, three-storey complex was converted in the rococo style by Carl Heinrich von Heinekens. The grounds were also created in this time, based on French park design. In the late 19th century, parts of the grounds were remodelled in the English landscape garden style that was popular at the time. In addition to the castle itself, the complex includes a portal, cavalier houses, the Marstall, an orangery and outhouses.
The property is owned by the organisation “Brandenburgische Schlösser GmbH” and it is currently being refurbished. However, visitors can enjoy the beautiful castle grounds and outside views of the castle even now.
