Neu-Haidemühl Observation Tower
The observation tower near Sellessen in the new village of Haidemühl is located on the highest point in the “Park of Remembrance” and was built in 2006. 90 steps lead up to the top platform of the 25.5-metre-high tower. From above a sweeping view across the land towards the Spremberg dam can be enjoyed.
The spindle in the middle of the tower symbolises a chimney, and is meant as a reminder of the glassworks. The rotation of the tower axis is intended to represent movement; the position of each of three platforms is different and stands for the resettlement of Haidemühl. The motifs on the sails are images of the old Haidemühl, which had to make way for surface mining.
