“Meu­rostolln” Obser­va­tion Tower

The “Meu­rostolln” obser­va­tion tower was con­structed in 2003 on the grounds of a for­mer bri­quette fac­tory. 144 steps lead up to the 27-metre-high view­ing plat­form. The tower stands on an ele­va­tion and pro­vides a view of the sur­round­ing land­scape, in par­tic­u­lar the Lausitzring, the bucket wheel exca­va­tor land­mark, the Meuro solar park, the Klet­twitz wind park, and Sen­ften­berg with its lake. On espe­cially clear days it is pos­si­ble to see the power sta­tions in Schwarze Pumpe and Boxberg.
The tower was con­structed using gal­vanised steel and is meant to recall the Hörlitz water tower that stood on this site until 1965.
