Cycle route around Spremberg reservoir

At 19 kilometres, the route around Spremberg reservoir is the longest loop trail in the Lusatian Lakeland. This is hardly surprising, given that Spremberg reservoir is the fourth-largest reservoir in Germany, and the only one in the state of Brandenburg. The route around the reservoir is lined with pines. The expanse of water is broken up by a number of coves and islands, with the trail winding along the shoreline at times.

Distance: 19 kilometres
Start/end (recommended): Bagenz, near Neuhausen/Spree – at the Bagenz campsite
Parking: At the campsites in Bagenz (on the eastern shore) and Klein Döbbern (on the western shore)
Terrain: The circular route follows the asphalt loop around the lake and is predominantly flat, but uneven in places.

• Swimming beaches: Sandy beaches at Bagenz (eastern shore) and Klein Döbbern (western shore)
• Scenic views: Numerous small rest areas around the reservoir, best views to the north of the campsite on the western shore
• Public toilets: On the Bagenz and on the Klein Döbbern side
• Playgrounds: One playground each on the Bagenz side (eastern shore) and the Klein Döbbern side (western shore).

Tip: Spremberg reservoir is great for anglers. The lake is one of Brandenburg’s best fishing areas, with excellent chances of catching carp, tench, bream, eel, pike-perch and pike.
