The Dubringer Moor Tour

On this cycle tour you will cycle around one of the last and largest moor landscapes between the Elbe and Oder rivers. Discover the rich flora and fauna in the Dubringer Moor landscape and nature reserve. The extensive moor areas, the pond area and the floodplain of the Black Elster are habitats for a variety of animal and plant species. Here you can hear the muffled calls of the bittern, the circling of the white-tailed eagle, and the loud concert of toads and frogs. The flora, too, contains special beauties and rarities such as the carnivorous sundew, cranberry or cotton grass meadows. Well-equipped with binoculars in your luggage, the cycle tour becomes a lasting nature experience. Between Neukollm and Scheckthal, a short detour to a wooden footbridge in the moor invites you to observe. In Dubring, another detour into the moor is recommended. From here, a path leads to the spot where, according to an old legend, a sunken robber baron's castle once stood. Near Zelder's ponds, an observation tower offers an opportunity to experience the moor with its special features. Back in Hoyerswerda, a stroll through the 750-year-old old town with its narrow streets and tranquil town houses is worthwhile.

TIP: A trip in a rowing boat on the large central pond of the Neudorf-Klösterlich pond farm is a great way to discover the flora and fauna and relax at the same time. Rowing boats can be hired from the Fischgaststätte Dr. Zelder. You can also enjoy fresh fish here. Rental and gastronomy open on Sundays and public holidays between May and 3 October.

Circular route via: Bröthen - Schwarzkollm - Zeißholz - Scheckthal - Dubring - Wittichenau - Neudorf-Klösterlich - Dörgenhausen - Groß Neida.
