Lake Bernsteinsee

With a length of 11 kilometres, the route around Lake Bernsteinsee is well suited to more leisurely cycle tours. The lake is designed for low-impact tourism, so the main features of the route are opportunities for simple, relaxed nature spotting. With a bit of luck you may be able to observe a crane by the side of the cycle trail. Lake Bernsteinsee has a striking turquoise colour, which is particularly noticeable when seen from the air.

Start/end (recommended): Burghammer near Spreetal
Parking: On the northern shore, at the rest area near the village of Burghammer
Terrain: The circular route mainly follows the asphalt loop around the lake, but the western section runs along the cycle paths signposted as Lower Lusatia Mining Route and Frog Cycle Route. It is predominantly flat.

• Swimming is not permitted at this lake
• Scenic views: Several small rest areas around the lake, with the best views to the north of the lake, at the village of Burghammer, just above the shoreline
