Lake Bernsteinsee
Lake Bernsteinsee is intended primarily for low-impact tourism and quiet relaxation on and near the water. Water sports will be limited to sailing and canoeing, whereas motorboats will not be permitted on the lake. The lake has not been approved for swimming and water sports yet. Plans include a small beach for swimming at Burghammer on the northern shore. The lakeside path can be used for cycling, in-line skating and running. Parking is available by the lake.
Lake Bernsteinsee is a reservoir. It was created by flooding the former Burghammer lignite mine, a process which was completed in 2009.
